Expert Review
7.28 kg on the scales surprised me — this Ultimate feels legitimately light for a race bike. Point it into a climb and it snaps up tempo; on descents it's planted enough to be confident but still nimble when you flick the bars. Shimano Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting is crisp and the carbon wheelset plus 33 mm tyre clearance give a useful balance of low weight and comfort on rough roads. You'll love this if you race hilly courses or want a snappy, all-round race bike; you trade a bit of outright aerodynamic shaping for climbing agility and ride feel.
Pros
- Sub-7.3 kg complete weight makes it snappy on long climbs and quick out of corners
- Ultegra Di2 electronic 2x12 shifting gives precise, instant gear changes under load
- Carbon wheels and 33 mm tyre clearance let you run wider rubber for comfort without wrecking the bike's climbing focus
- Rigid seatpost keeps pedalling energy direct for sprint efforts and sustained tempo sections
- Traditional cockpit layout makes fit tweaks and stem/handlebar swaps straightforward
Cons
- Less aero profiling than pure aero race frames, so you trade a few seconds on flat, high-speed stretches
- Rigid seatpost reduces compliance on very long endurance days compared with bikes that use compliant posts
Best for :
- Climbers who value a light, snappy frame for alpine roads
- Racers wanting a versatile all-rounder for hilly crits and gran fondos
- Riders who want crisp electronic shifting and easy cockpit setup
Not for :
- Those chasing the absolute fastest aero package for flat criteriums or triathlon-style efforts
